Our finest CD player and DAC, the 851C uses our extensive digital knowledge to become the cornerstone of your digital hub. No matter the source of your digital music, twin DACs in dual differential mode and 2nd generation Adaptive Time Filtering make the music sound as the original artist intended – extraordinary.
To make the 851C we used all our hi-fi know-how. So it has a toroidal transformer and audiophile components, and a signal path that’s been revised and tweaked for the cleanest route possible. It’s built to connect with as many sources as possible, with optical and co-axial digital in and outputs, XLR and RCA outputs, plus a USB audio input for your PC.
That the 851C is an exceptional CD player is beyond doubt. It has our high performance S3 Custom Servo for remarkable error-free data retrieval, while the twin DACs upsample data to 24-bit standard. But the 851C is also a pre-amp, so can be directly connected to a power amp or active speakers for further sonic benefits.

The toroidal transformer helps, as does our insistence on using only audiophile-grade components; many hours of fine tuning also play their part. The 851E has a broad range of connection options, including three switchable between unbalanced RCA and balanced XLR, the later ideal for high-end sources. Traditional sources get six RCA unbalanced inputs, plus there’s a dedicated sub woofer output and two sets of speaker terminals.
The 851E is designed as the partner to the 851W and to this end it has control bus connections for power syncing, as well as a Terrapin impedance buffering module for seamless switching between sources. The result is a combination that’s comfortably the most musically thrilling we’ve ever made: detailed, powerful, nuanced.

This ultra low noise and distortion preamplifier is made for the audio conniosseur and offers not only breathtaking performance but is capable to adapt to virtually any phono cartridge through variable impedance control. Impedance adjustment can be done while playback! Due to use of best parts, like SSM2019 from Analog Devices as input stages and Linear Technology LT1010 as high current buffer stage, Phono Box RS delivers ultra low levels of distortion and noise.
